Coolant Temperature Sensor

A coolant temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the coolant that is pumped around the engine block to cool the engine. The purpose of this sensor is to notify the driver of the vehicle at the first sign of engine overheating. The purpose is to warn the driver of overheating engine temperatures so that the driver can stop and shut down the engine in time before the engine is permanently damaged by overheating.
